Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about training at Shark Tank Muay Thai.
Getting Started
Not at all. Most of our students had zero martial arts experience when they started. Classes are designed for all levels, and Coach Omar will adapt instruction to meet you where you are.
Just wear comfortable athletic clothing (shorts or joggers and a t-shirt) and bring a water bottle. We provide gloves and equipment for your first class. No special gear is needed to get started.
You will start with a dynamic warm-up, then learn fundamental Muay Thai techniques with Coach Omar. You will practice on pads with a partner, work through drills, and finish with a cool-down. The full session is 50 minutes.
No. Muay Thai will get you in shape - that is the whole point. We meet everyone at their current fitness level and help them progress. Whether you have not worked out in years or you are a seasoned athlete, you will get a great workout.
Our adult classes are open to anyone 14 and older. For kids aged 6 to 13, we offer the Lil Ninjas program - a dedicated class designed specifically for young athletes.
Training
BANG Muay Thai is a structured curriculum developed by Duane "Bang" Ludwig, a former UFC fighter and coach. It emphasizes clean technique, proper mechanics, and a progressive learning path. Shark Tank is an official BANG Muay Thai affiliate.
We recommend starting with two classes per week to build a solid foundation. As your fitness and skills improve, you can increase to three sessions. Consistency matters more than frequency - showing up twice a week every week will deliver results.
Each 50-minute class follows a structured format: dynamic warm-up, technique instruction from Coach Omar, pad work with a partner, partner drills to build timing and reactions, and a cool-down with stretching.
Sparring is available for experienced students who Coach Omar determines are ready. It is never required and always controlled. Beginners focus on technique, pad work, and drills before progressing to any contact work.

Kids Program
The Lil Ninjas program is designed for children aged 6 to 13. Classes are adapted to be age-appropriate, with a focus on fun, fundamentals, and building good habits.
Absolutely. Our kids classes focus on controlled drills and pad work - there is no sparring. With a maximum of 4 students per class, Coach Omar provides close supervision and ensures a safe, respectful environment for every child.
Kids learn the fundamentals of Muay Thai including punching, kicking, kneeing, defense, and footwork. Beyond technique, the program builds discipline, confidence, coordination, respect, and fitness that benefits them in all areas of life.
